Of his many accomplishments, he was the first Mayor of Magog. His two most recognized and possibly most important accomplishments are without a doubt the success of the railway and the development of the textile industry. No other individual or group of people contributed more than Moore did to the progress and development of his adopted town. Moore passed away in Pasadena, CA at his daughter Katherine’s' home where he was spending the winter. He succumbed to a digestive hemorrhage a few weeks short of his 75th birthday. His remains were transported by railway to Magog for funeral service at St. Luke's Church and are interred at the Protestant Cemetery on Pine Street in Magog, QC. While his daughter Katherine and her husband names are inscribed on Alvin’s headstone, both are in fact, buried at Forest Lawn Cemetery in Glendale, CA.
