She was born October 22, 1928 in Benton County, Minnesota to Frank and Elthy (Jasmer) DuHamel.
She is preceded in death by her parents, first husband, Marvin Swanson, her second husband, Walter Strauch, her siblings; Frank Edward DuHamel, Eva Nelson, Leola Cross, Bernard 'Bucky' DuHamel, George DuHamel, and Robert Smekofske.
Rose was born and raised in Minnesota and moved to Northwest Arkansas in 1993. During her time in NWA she was an active member of St. Vincent de Paul Catholic Church and the Senior Center. She was a very independent and determined person. She obtained her GED while in her 60s and was very proud of that accomplishment as well as holding a life membership in the Ladies Auxiliary to the VFW. She had an amazing sense of humor that she still possessed in her last days. Rose loved to play bingo, commonly noted as the Bingo Queen by all those knew her. Her favorite color was purple, enjoyed jigsaw puzzles and gardening. Her family meant the world to her.
She is survived by her children; Darlene (Charles) Barth of Amarillo, Texas, Jerome (Kerry) Swanson of Anderson, South Carolina, Sharon (Kenneth) Lucas of Rogers, Minnesota, Teresa (Gary) Wermter of Zion Crossroads, Virginia, Roxane (Jim) Virnig of Hillman, Minnesota, nieces; Bonnie (Jim) Haberle, Kathy (Leon) Freeman, 7 grandchildren, 16 great-grandchildren, and a host of other family and friends.
A private memorial service will be held under the direction of Nelson-Berna Funeral Home of Rogers. Inurnment will be held at Evergreen Cemetery in Brainerd, Minnesota
