Debra Ann Becknell, 51, wife of Marvin Becknell, died Tuesday, Sept. 15, 2009, at the Memorial Hospital in Manchester. She was born in Brooklyn, N.Y., on May 2, 1958, to Bennett and Marion (Izzo) Blanton of Irvine. She was a homemaker, a former restaurant employee, and a member of the First Baptist Church of Island City.
Along with her parents, and her husband of 27 years, she is survived by a son, Michael Becknell of Manchester; two daughters, Jessica (Richard) Doty of Irvine, and Kimberly Becknell of Booneville; a stepdaughter, Rebecca (Jeff) Abner of Manchester; and four grandchildren, Richard, Jr., Angela, Dillion, and Nathaniel; six sisters, Karen Stone of Richmond, Mary Ballard, Tina McIntosh, and Marie Flynn, all of Irvine, Bonnie Briggs of Raleigh, N.C., and Denise Ellis of Louisville; a brother, Benjamin Blanton of Louisville; her paternal grandmother, Bertha Blanton of Irvine and a host of friends and relatives.
Funeral services were at the First Baptist Church of Island City, with Rev. Harold Becknell and Rev. Keith Murray officiating. Interment was at the Island City Baptist Church Cemetery in Island City with the Booneville Funeral Home in charge of arrangements
