She was a native of Laurens County, and a daughter of Glenna Abrams Pitts Hammond of Laurens and the late William Maxwell Pitts. She was a graduate of Laurens District 55 High School and attended Lander College. Miss Pitts was General Manager of Hardees in Ninety Six, and was a member of Chestnut Ridge Baptist Church.
Survivors besides her mother are two brothers, William Marcus and his wife, Jean Tunstall Pitts, of Hickory Tavern, and Richard Alan Pitts and his wife, Sonna Pulley Pitts, of Laurens; a nephew, Niles Maxwell Pitts; and nieces, Abby Jean Pitts, Anna Katherine Pitts and Claudia Bett Pitts; step-father, Roy Hammond, of the home; a step-brother, Wayne Hammonds; and a step-sister, Norma Jean Burkett.
She was predeceased by a brother, Twyman Carroll Pitts.
