CLARKE, Margaret Askew, 72, of Mechanicsville, lost her courageous battle with Alzheimer's and passed away peacefully in her home surrounded by loved ones on Wednesday, September 23, 2009. She is survived by her dedicated husband, John C. Clarke; her devoted son, Richard Eric Askew of Sandston, Virginia; three grandchildren, Grayson, Tanner and Spencer Askew; daughter-in-law, Shelly Askew; and her beloved poodle, Louie. She was preceded in death by her father, Ralph Lee Meadows; and mother, Margaret Hess Meadows. Margaret was born in Hinton, West Virginia where she resided for 24 years before moving to Richmond. She retired from Dominion Virginia Power after 36 years of loyal service. During her retirement she enjoyed her fair share of traveling with her loving husband, John. Their life together was full of love and laughter. Margaret was full of spirit and her infectious laugh brought smiles to all around her. She was a wonderful wife, mother, grandmother and friend. Margaret's family will receive friends from 6 to 8 p.m. Friday, September 25, 2009 at Woody Funeral Home, 9271 Shady Grove Road, Mechanicsville, Virginia, where a funeral service will be held Saturday, September 26, 2009 at 2 p.m. Margaret will be interred at Signal Hill Memorial Park, Hanover, Virginia....Published in the Richmond Times-Dispatch on 9/25/2009
