Rose Mayo, 80, of Huntsville, passed away Thursday, September 24, 2009 in the Huntsville Hospital surrounded by her family.


Rose was born April 22, 1929 in Athens, AL, and later moved to Redstone Park, where she met and married her high school sweetheart.


She spent a generous portion of her life in the workforce in Huntsville - at Mallory, an accountant for W. Harvey Self and then office manager for many years for Dr. Jon Moody before retiring to continue her true career as a loving wife and wonderful mother and grandmother.


She was preceded in death by her husband, Bill Mayo.


Survivors include her children, Billy Ray Mayo and Sondra Arbona and husband Fred; grandchildren, Jennifer and Garrett Arbona, all of Huntsville; brother, Joe Lewis and sister, Martha Bell, both of Athens, and many loving nieces and nephews.


The funeral service will be at 11 a.m. Saturday at Laughlin Service Funeral Home Chapel. Burial will be in Athens City Cemetery.
