ANNA - Stella Shepard, 98, died at 11:50 p.m. Wednesday, Sept. 23, 2009, in Jonesboro Rehab and Health Care Center.
Stella was born Aug. 17, 1911, in Union County, to Labold and Etta (Anderson) Schlenker.
She married Frank Shepard on July 8, 1931. He preceded her in death Nov. 28, 1986.
Stella was a member of First Baptist Church of Anna. She was a charter member of the Sunday school class at Anna Vista Highrise, where she had resided since 1986.
She is survived by two sons, Bob (Carol) Shepard of Cobden and Ron (Della) Shepard of Wolf Lake; one daughter, Joyce (Ralph) Owens of Wilson, N.C.; 11 grandchildren, Rob, Jim and John Shepard, Patrick and Paige Shepard, Michael, Bob, Mark, Richard and Tim Owens and Kimberly Owens Conway; 19 great grandchildren; and nieces, nephews and other relatives.
She was preceded in death by her husband; parents; one granddaughter, Pam Shepard; three brothers and four sisters.
Funeral services will be at 11 a.m. Saturday, Sept. 26, 2009, in Crain Funeral Home in Anna-Jonesboro. Interment will be in Anna Ceme-tery. Visitation will be from 5 to 8 p.m. today at the funeral home.
Memorials may be made to Sunshine Inn or PAWS and will be accepted at the funeral home.
