Ethel T. Hooten, 93, of Mayhill, died Friday at the Ruidoso Care Center. She was born June 17, 1893 in Bee Cave, Texas.
Hooten was a member of a pioneer Otero County family. She had resided in Otero and Chavez counties most of her life although she had lived with her son, Ambus, in California for a period of time. She was a member of the Mayhill Church of Christ.
She is survived by her son, Ambus H. Kilpatrick of Exter, Calif.; a daughter, Mrs. Margie Lyle of Ruidoso; two daughters-in-law; Mrs. Mable Hooten of Mayhill and Mrs. Jane Weehunt of Grand junction, Colo.; a sister, Mrs. Onie Clayton of Artesia; 12 grandchildren and several great and great-great-grandchildren.
She was preceded in death by three sons; Ross and Ralph Hooten and Elzie Kilpatrick; a daughter, Alma Long, and her husband Perry R. Hooten.
