Child star of silent films. The son of vaudevillians, Robert Joseph Connelly, nicknamed "Bobby" entered films with Kalem in 1913. The following year he was under contract with Vitagraph where he made dozens of short productions. The curly haired moppet starred in the "Bobby" and "Sonny Jim" series and enjoyed great popularity. After departed Vitagraph, he played child parts at many other studios, receiving rave reviews for his performance in "Humoresque" (1920). For unknown reasons, Bobby developed chronic endocarditis at age eight. In spite of it, he continued to work. Shortly after completing "Wildness of Youth" (1922), he fell seriously ill and died at home several days later. His sister, Helen Connelly, was also a child actress. BIO PROVIDED BY: Jim Trottier.
