Mrs. Thomas L. Preston died Monday evening at 5:15 , after an illness extending over the greater portion of her life, caused from a complications of diseases. She was 39 years old and 16 days. The funeral will be held Thursday afternoon at 2:30 o’clock at the First Baptist Church and will be conducted by Rev. Guy Prather. Interment will be made in the cemetery adjoining the church. Flora Alice Homan was born June 6, 1869 in Cari Township at the old Homan farm and was a daughter of Mr. and Mrs. Wesley Homan. Here she continued to reside until her marriage March 10, 1897 to Thomas L. Preston, when they resided near the old home. They lived in that vicinity for a number of years, removing to Quitman, Missouri two years ago. Last March they retuned to Corning. Six children were born to them, the eldest a daughter, dying in infancy. The living are Fern, Lula, Marie, Floyd, and an infant three weeks old, the eldest daughter being nine years old. Mrs. Preston united with the First Baptist Church when a child of 14 years and was a noble Christian woman. During her long illness, she bore all with fortitude and was never heard to complain of her lot in life. As a girl she was always spoken of as a noble, Christian girl and later as a grand woman. Besides her husband and children, she leaves one brother, Frank Homan and one sister, Mrs. Eva Cooper, also several half brothers and sisters. Friends extend sympathy to the bereaved husband and relatives.
