Lewis C Oatts die in Augusta, Richmond County, Georgia. He was visiting his brother Thomas Jefferson Oatts. The brothers had a thriving business in Augusta that sold Kentucky horses and mules to southern markets. See the following article.

Died This Morning.
Mr. L. C. Oatts, Brother of Mr. T. J. Oatts, Passes Away
Friends of the family will regret exceedingly to learn of the death this morning at 3 o'cloc of Mr. L. C. Oatts, at the home of this brother, Mr. T J. Oatts on Ellis street.

Mr. Oatts came to Augusta from his home in Kentucky in January, expectiong to find renewed health and strength in this climate. Unfortunately his condition was such that he could not recover, and the end came quitely this morning. Some years ago deceased was injured by a saddle hourse while mounting for a ride and never recovered from the accident
The deepest sympathy is extended to the family. The interment will take place in Kentucky.
