Born October 2, 1916 in Caruthersville, Mo., she is the daughter of the late Lucile Shepard and Morrell DeReign.
She attended schools in Caruthersville and graduated from the University of Missouri in Columbia, Mo.
She was a secretary for the Pemiscot County Abstract Company for over 30 years. She also was a member of the First Presbyterian Church and was active in church circles.
Her community involvement included being a founding member of the Pemiscot County Historical Society, Cub Scouts, Girl Scouts, PTA, Community Chest, SEMO Club, B & PW, DAR, American Cancer Society and Friends of Arrow Rock.
On June 11, 1940 she was united in marriage to O.W. Cook, M.D.
Survivors include: her four children, their spouses and children, Oliver (Pete) and Beverly Cook, Sandy, Kristin and Michael of Mt. Airy, Maryland, Bob and Kathy Cook and Rob of Golden Valley, Minnesota, Sue and Duane Cook, Jenny and Christina of Baton Rouge, Louisiana, David and Diane Cook, David II and Dan of Columbia, Mo. and two nephews, Jim DeReign of Caruthersville, Mo., and Tom DeReign of Sikeston, Mo.
She is preceded in death by one brother, Morrell DeReign, Jr.
Funeral services were held on July 17, 1996 at 10:30 a.m. at the First Presbyterian Church with Dr. Paul Currie officiating.
Interment was in the Little Prairie Cemetery.
