Velma Lee (Lamb) Harrison, 70, of Magnet Cove passed away on Wednesday September 16, 2009 at her home.
Velma, affectionately called "Sis" or "Nonna," was born on January 19, 1939 to Rev. Charles and Viola Webb Lamb in Little Rock, Arkansas.
She was a 1957 Honor Graduate of Star City High School with her brother Joe. She was a self-taught and accomplished pianist and organist and gave piano lessons at the Malvern Music Company, owned by Jimmy and Holly McCune.
She was a member of First Southern Baptist Church of Magnet Cove and formerly of First Baptist of Pencil Bluff Arkansas. She and her husband Bill were charter members and founders of the Baptist church at Sims near Mt. Ida.
She enjoyed traveling, fishing, and camping with her husband and friends. In good health she brought much laughter with her wit and humor.
She is survived by her husband of 50 years, Billy Harrison (married at Star City in January of 1959). Three brothers: Pastor Tom Lamb (Gloria) of Star City; Jimmy Frank Lamb (Sharon) of Murfreesborro, TN; Pastor Bob Lamb (Peggy) of Pine Bluff; one sister, Patricia Barnes (Rex) of California; One son, Denver L. Harrison and wife Leslie of Magnet Cove, recently of Shreveport, La.; One daughter, Holly Diane McCune and husband Jimmy of Magnet Cove; Four grandsons: Joshua Harrison (Jeannie), Casey Harrison, Dustin H. (Brown) Harrison (Jessie), Nathan McCune; One granddaughter, Hannah McCune; Four great-grandchildren: Jacob Harrison, Elizabeth Harrison, Hunter Harrison, and one on the way.
She was preceded in death by her parents, and four brothers: Rev. Doyle Lamb, William Lamb, John Wesley Lamb, and Joe N. Lamb.
Funeral services were 10:00 AM on Saturday September 19, 2009, at Atkinson Funeral Home Chapel with Rev. Sammy Shipp of Louisiana and Pastor Charlie Williams of Magnet Cove officiating.
Graveside services were at 1:30 PM on Saturday September 19, 2009 at Hickory Grove Cemetery near Star City, Arkansas.
Pallbearers were: Dustin Harrison, Nathan McCune, Joshua Harrison, Casey Harrison, Jeff Price, and Stephen Rogers. Honorary pallbearers were Aaron Miles and Charles Massey.
Visitation was held from 5:00 – 7:00 PM on Friday September 18 at Atkinson Funeral Home.
