BIRTH AND PARENTS AND SIBLINGS
According to her birth/baptismal record, Astrid Naas was born on May 23, 1864, and baptized on June 5, 1864 in Ål, Buskerud, Norway. (The inscription on her headstone reported a different year.) Her father, Knut Naas, was 34, and her mother, Guri Olsdatter, was 29. Her Norwegian siblings were Ambjor (Emma), Sigria (Sara), Lars (Louis), Ole, Ole (Olaf), Knud (Charles), and Gunvor (Gertrude). Her American siblings were Peter and Gurina.
IMMIGRATION
For unknown reasons her name was neither on the ship manifest of her parents and Norwegian siblings nor on the ship manifest of her uncle. Their voyages from Norway to the USA were in 1876. Astrid reported in 1900 that her immigration was about 1877.
NATURALIZATION
Since her husband, Harry Brevick, reported on the 1900 Census that he was Na(turalized), then, due to the legal procedures at that time, his wife Astrid was automatically a Citizen of the USA. In fact, on the 1920 Census, Astrid reported that she was Na(turalized).
MARRIAGE AND FAMILY
Astrid married Harry Brevick on April 4, 1892, in St Paul, Minnesota. They had about a half dozen children together. Harold (Harald) Kenneth was an Army Corporal and George Olaf was a Navy Mechanical Machinist.
RELIGION AND DEATH
The deaths of Astrid and her husband, Harry Brevick, were recorded in a Lutheran church directory in Dorset in Hubbard County, Minnesota. Harry died on Christmas Day in 1941. Astrid died on June 23, 1947 in Minnesota, at the age of 83. They both died in Lake Emma Township.
BURIAL
Astrid Naas Brevick was buried on June 26, 1947, in the city of Park Rapids in Minnesota in Greenwood Cemetery. A son, George O.M, was also buried at Greenwood Cemetery. For unknown reasons her husband and a son, Johan, and a daughter, Astrid, were buried in a cemetery in a different city in Minnesota.
