Russell A. Kraft, age 64, passed away on Sunday, January 25, 2009, after a battle with cancer.
Russ was a life time Hobart resident. He served in the United States Air Force and spent one year in Vietnam. Russ was a 26 year veteran of the Hobart Police Department serving as Police Chief prior to his retirement. After his retirement in 2000, he joined his son in owning and running Kraft Funeral Services.
He is survived by his wife of 37 years, Jackie Kraft of Hobart; son, Rusty (Tammy) Kraft of Hobart; daughter, Cindy (Michael) Fish of Chesterton; mother, Mary Jane Kraft of Hobart; four loving grandchildren: Brianna and Jordan Kraft, Anekah and Alexander Fish; one sister, Janet (Duane) Sparks of Crown Point; many loving nieces and nephews.
Russ was preceded in death by his father, Clarence Russell Kraft.
Funeral services will be held on Friday, January 30, 2009 at 10:00 a.m. from the Kraft Funeral Services and Crematory, 370 N. County Line Road, Hobart. Interment will follow at the Abraham Lincoln National Cemetery in Illinois. Friends are invited to meet with the family on Thursday, January 29th from 1-5 p.m. and 6-8 p.m. at the funeral home.
