Leona Dempsey
Leona Paukert Dempsey was born in Hewitt, Minnesota on May 22, 1921. She died June 5, 1985 in Los Angeles, California.
She attended the Hewitt Church of the Nazarene in her youth. In 1942 she went to Seattle, Washington and worked for Boeing Aircraft Factory as a reviter. Later she moved to California and lived in the San Francisco and Los Angeles areas. Her occupation during those years was waitress work.
She is suirvived by her parents, Charles and Mabel Paukert of Bertha, Minnesota; her brother Charles (Bob) of Hayward, California; sisters Mrs. Vernon (Donna Mae) Aarnes of Moville, Iowa; and Mrs. Ace (Verlie) Garrard of Covina, California; Three nephews and four nieces.
Funeral services were held Jne 11th at Rainbow Chapel, Rose Hills Memorial Park, Whittier, California with Pastor John McIntosh of the Covina Church of the Nazarene officiating. Interment was at the Rose Hills Memorial Park.
Besides being physically beautiful, Leona had a very big, loving, giving heart. Though she never had any children of her own, she adored her sister Verlie's children and grandchildren - and they adored her. Her sister's children and grandchildren always looked forward to and received the biggest presents from their Aunt Lee. Life was not easy for Leona. She died alone, without any family or friends near by. She never wanted to cause any trouble for anyone. Her body just wore out at a young age from working too hard. All her extended family continue to love her and miss her beautiful smile and giving heart.
