One of Last GAR Members Is Dead Here

LaFayette Crum, one of the few surviving members of the local GAR, died at 12:15 a.m., today at the home of his eldest daughter, Miss Emma A. Crum, 318 North Plain Street, with whom he lived.

His health had been gradually failing following an attack of pneumonia last February.

Mr. Crum was born Mar. 12, 1844, in Candor, and enlisted in the Civil War in which he was injured in the Battle of Gettysburg when he was 19. On his return to Candor he farmed and taught school for a number of years.

He is survived by three daughters, Miss Emma A. Crum and Mrs. W.E. Hopper of Ithaca, and Mrs. Effie V. Jehle of Hyattsville, Md.; a son, Dr. H.H. Crum of Ithaca; a brother, Taylor Crum of Fargo, N.D., and several grandchildren.

Funeral services will be announced.
