Harold Daniel Bickley, 88, of Kents Store, Virginia, passed away Monday, September 21, 2009, at the Louisa Healthcare Center.

Harold was born on May 26, 1921, in Louisa County, the son of Floyd and Gladys Bickley.

In addition to his parents, Harold was preceded in death by his daughter, Frances; his sister, Elizabeth; two brothers, Floyd Bickley Jr. and Frank Bickley; and a great- grandchild, Christopher Lee Pearson.

Harold is survived by five sons, Harold Bickley Jr. and his wife, Brenda, of Keswick, Lawrence and his wife, Gale, of Kents Store, Richard and his wife, Kristen, also of Kents Store, Warren and his wife, Kathy, of Brandy Station and Roger and his wife, Cindy, of Troy; two daughters, Nancy Kober and her husband, Robert, of Louisa, and Marie Condrey and her husband, Allen, of Rockville, Virginia; 19 grandchildren, 24 great-grandchildren and 14 great-great-grandchildren.

Harold's father taught him carpentry as a young boy, and in the 60's he went to work as a carpenter and built his own home. He was also was a farmer for many years and worked at the steel mill in Orange, Virginia. Harold enjoyed fishing and camping but most of all he loved dancing. Harold was a member of the Loyal Order of the Moose in Charlottesville, Virginia.

The family will receive friends from 6 until 8 p.m. Wednesday, September 23, 2009, at Sheridan Funeral Home in Kents Store, Virginia.

A graveside funeral service will be held 1 p.m. Thursday, September 24, 2009, at the Beulah Baptist Church Cemetery in Kents Store, Virginia, with the Reverend Jason Taylor officiating.

Sheridan Funeral Home is in charge of arrangements.
