COUNCIL GROVE --- Sophia Ina Pearson, 92, Council Grove, died Thursday, Sept. 30, 1999, at a Council Grove hospital.

She was born June 3, 1907, in Alta Vista, the daughter of David and Emma Kuhn McDiffett.

Mrs. Pearson was a member of Emmanuel United Methodist Church.

She married John Andrew Pearson on March 23, 1927, in Junction City. He survives.

Other survivors include five sons, Charles Pearson, Great Bend, John Pearson Jr., Dublin, Calif., Lloyd D. Pearson, Tonganoxie, Donald Pearson, Concordia, and Dick Pearson, Omaha, Neb.; three daughters, Berti Teneyck, Haysville, Deloris Raby, Pickens, S.C., Debra Wilson, Americus; two sisters, Celia Glessner, Junction City, and Donna Cowdin, Jamesville, Minn.; 31 grandchildren; 43 great- grandchildren; and 12 great-great-grandchildren.

Mrs. Pearson was preceded in death by a son, Melvin Pearson.

Services will be at 2 p.m. Monday at the Simpson United Methodist Church in Alta Vista. Graveside services will be at the Alta Vista Cemetery.

Mrs. Pearson will lie in state from noon to 9 p.m. Sunday at Kendall Funeral Chapel in Council Grove, where relatives and friends will meet from 7 to 8 p.m.

Memorial contributions may be made to the Emmanuel United Methodist Church and sent in care of the funeral chapel.
