Obituary
Captain Z.L. Tanner, United States Navy, retired, died at his home in Washington, D.C. yesterday of heart failure. Captain Tanner was born in Warsaw, New York and entered the regular Navy in 1867.
While on a leave of absence from 1874 to 1878 he was Commander of the Pacific Mail steamers Colon and City of Peking. From 1879 to 1894 he engaged in scientific deep sea explorations for the government. The interment will be at the Arlington National Cemetery.
