C. B. (Chalk) Sylter died Sunday morning at Veterans hospital, Wichita, after an illness of several weeks. He was born August 14, 1888 in Lindon, Illinois and came to Sterling in 1889. He was a mechanic and sand pumper. He belonged to the VFW. Survivors include his wife, Hazel, and a son, Sammie, both of the home; and a brother, Andy, of Wadsworth. Private funeral will be at 3 pm tomorrow at the Porter chapel with Rev. D. J. Swatzky officiating. Burial will be in the Sterling cemetery.
