Neal Wray Curtis, 65, died at his home in Belgrade on Monday, October 9.

He was born on May 4, 1930, in Manhattan, to Ernest Clyde and Lola Corrine Wray Curtis. He grew up and received his education in Bozeman, attended and graduated from Montana State College, and then taught school in Belgrade for his entire career. He was principal of the Belgrade Elementary School for several years and retired from that position.

He was an avid gun and coin collector, antique auto buff and enjoyed playing cards with his friends in Belgrade. He was a member of the American Legion, the Veterans of Foreign Wars, Sons and Daughters of the Pioneers, Fraternal Order of Eagles and the Elks Club. Mr. Curtis was a life-long resident of the Gallatin Valley.

He is survived by a brother and sister-in-law, Lowell and Shirley Curtis of Hilo, Hawaii, an aunt, Mary Sales of Bozeman; and several nieces and nephews. He was preceded in death by his parents and one brother, Ernest.

Funeral services will be held on Saturday at 10:30 a.m. in the Church of Christ, Belgrade, with burial following in the Meadowview Cemetery in Manhattan. Memorials in his name may be made to the Belgrade Middle School, Neal W. Curtis Memorial Fund, Belgrade, Montana.
