Born Friday, February 2, 1940 in Menfro, Missouri, he was the son of C. Elmer and Irene Sewing Cox. He married Vada May Wilson September 16, 1989 in Jackson, Missouri.
He was ordained October 15, 1997. He was pastor at Calvary Baptist Church in Perryville, Mo. for 2 and 1/2 years. Don and his wife were co-founders of Mission for Christ Church in Perryville, Mo.
Surviving are his wife,son, Donald Cox, Jr. of Cape Girardeau, MO, daughters, Dana Abel and husband, Steve of Fruitland, MO, Diane Kohm and husband, Paul Jr. of Perryville, MO, Denise Bohnert and husband, Ricky of Perryville, MO, Dawn Stewart and husband, Ronnie of Columbia, TN and Darla Cox of Jackson, MO, sisters, Melba Bernhardt of Cape Girardeau, MO and Dorothy Pohlman of Sedgewickville, MO; 18 grand children; 13 great grand children.
He was predeceased by his parents,son, Dwayne E Cox, sister, Mary Wahlers and 2 grandchildren.
The family will receive friends from 4:00 PM to 8:00 PM on Tuesday, September 22, 2009, at Ford & Sons Sprigg St. Chapel in Cape Girardeau.
Funeral service will be Wednesday, September 23, 2009 at 1:00PM at the chapel.
Burial will be in Lorimier Cemetery in Cape Girardeau.
