Lawrenceburg: John Alvin McGaughey Sr., 95, died Sunday, October 16, 2005 at Heritage Hall Nursing Home.
He was the husband of the late Hazel Mae Duncan McGaughey to whom he was married 70 years.
He was the son of the late John and Margaret Thurman McGaughey.
He was born March 28, 1910 in Anderson County, and was a life-long farmer and a member of Sand Spring Baptist Church. He is survived by a daughter, Wilma L. Flygstad and her husband Dale; a son, Leslie Joe McGaughey and his wife Barbara, a daughter-in-law, Shirley Chilton McGaughey, and a son-in-law, Maurice Corn, all of Lawrenceburg; seventeen grandchildren; thirty-two great- grandchildren; eight great-great-grandchildren, three step-grandchildren, nine step great-grandchildren, and three step-great-great-granchildren. He was preceded in death by a son, John Alvin McGaughey Jr., a daughter, Elaine M. Corn, one brother and two sisters. Funeral services will be 11 am Thursday, October 20, 2005, at the Ritchie & Peach Funeral Home. Burial will follow in the Lawrenceburg Cemetery.
