WOLFE, DONALD LEE, 70, of Louisville, passed away Thursday, May 21, 2009 at Baptist Hospital East. He served his country as an Air Force veteran. He was a retired lieutenant for the Louisville Police Department with 27 years of service. He served as a patrolman, detective and platoon commander. He was the former owner of Wendell's Tavern on Jefferson Street and Don's Place on Ulrich Avenue. He was later employed in the security dept. at Clark Memorial and Southern Indiana Rehab Hospitals. He was a member of the Sunset Masonic Lodge #915, Louisville Scottish Rite, Honorable Order of the Kentucky Colonels, F.O.P. and the Louisville Metro Police Officers Assoc. He was preceded in death by a son, John "Jack" R. Wolfe. Donald is survived by his sons, Danny R. Wilson (Janet), Donald E. Wolfe and Richard T. Wolfe (Patty). Graveside service will be 10 a.m. Tuesday at Zachary Taylor National Cemetery, 4701 Brownsboro Road. Arrangements entrusted to Arch L. Heady at Resthaven.

Don joined the Louisville Division of Police on May 16, 1960. His assignments included the 3rd and 6th Police Districts and CIS (investigations). He received the Mayor's Award and attained the rank of lieutenant before retiring Feburary 28, 1987.
