He was born in Holland, Missouri on January 27, 1921, and died at the Veterans Hospital in Poplar Bluff, Missouri on September 26, 1976 at the age of 55 years, 7 months and 29 days.
The son of the late Bert and Ada Hatley. He attended the Sanford and Chennell Schools.
On November 11, 1937 in Blytheville, Arkansas he was united in marriage to Miss Orena Theo Wright.
The family moved from Holland to Caruthersville in 1940. On May 23, 1944 at Jefferson Barracks, Missouri he enlisted in the United States Army. Received his Honorable Discharge on October 16, 1945 at Camp Butner, North Carolina.
Mr. Hatley had engaged in farming and was later employed as a Platform Loader by Spector Motors Freight Lines in St. Louis, Missouri before retiring a few years ago.
He was a member of the Temple Baptist Church and is survived by his wife, Mrs. Orena T. Hatley, one son, Larry Hatley, one brother, Billy Hatley, one sister, Mrs. Verna Hamm, his step-father, Everett Taylor, two step-brothers, Charles and William Taylor, three step-sisters, Mrs. Juanita Ford all of Caruthersville, Missouri, Mrs Marie Dodd of St. Louis, Missouri, and Mrs. Magaline Grubbs also of St. Louis, Missouri.
Pallbearers were Vester Churchill, J.R. Kelley, Bud Mann, Ed Harrison, Chuck Malin and Verlon Stubbs.
