IRA ANDREW HOLMES

Mr. Ira Andrew Holmes departed this life at his home on south Fourth street on Friday, March 2nd, 1917, at the age of 59 years, 7 months and 23 days, after an extended illness with a complication of diseases.

Funeral services, conducted by Rev. W. J. Gilmore, pastor of the Christian church, were held at the family residence on Sunday afternoon at 2 o'clock, after which the remains were laid to rest in the Ragtown cemetery.

Ira Andrew Holmes was born in this county, about six miles southeast of Chariton, on July 7th, 1857, and his life had nearly all been spent in this county.

He was married in Madison, Indiana, on June 26th, 1893, to Etta Law, who survives him. To them were born two daughters, Amy Esther and Leona Fern, both of whom reside at home, and with the wife and mother will have the sympathy of the community in their bereavement.

Mr. Holmes was a kind husband and father, a splendid neighbor and possessed a genial disposition. A host of friends will learn of his demise with deep regret.
