Catherine L. Dishong, 85, of McComb passed away Friday, September 18, 2009 1:40 p.m. at Fox Run Manor, Findlay. She was born November 1, 1923 to the late Myron and Chloe (Priest) Dill. She married Lawrence O. Dishong in 1945 in Banning CA where he was stationed in the Marines. He preceded he in death on March 26, 1996.
Surviving are her children Anna (Barry DeWitt, Findlay, Alan A. (Debbie) Dishong, McComb, and Mary Jo (David) McRill, Mt. Blanchard. Also surviving are 7 grandchildren, Mark an Michelle DeWitt, Christopher and Michael Dishong, Jessica Shaheen, Amy McRill, and Leigh Ann Brewer. There are also 10 great grandchildren. She is also survived by a sister, Dorothy Carney, Bowling Green and a half sister Peach Swope of Hanover MI.
She was preceded in death by one granddaughter, Rachael Ann DeWitt, one brother, Floyd Dill, on sister Fairy Day, and 3 half brothers Donald, Ted, and Dale Dielman.
She was raised along with her brother Floyd and sister Dorothy by and uncle and aunt Norman and Jesse (Dill) Priest of Custar, also deceased.
Catherine was a 1942 graduate of Milton Center High School. She has been a member and President of WCTU, a Brownie Leader, member of Homemaker's Club. She was a member of the Mt Blanchard Nazarene Church and former member of the Findlay First Nazarene Church.
Catherine was a fram wife and a homemaker in rural McComb for nearly 50 years. Her interests included sewing, crafts, wintering in Florida, camping, reading her Bible and sharing her love of Jesus. She loved family and delighted in her grandchildren and great grandchildren. Catherine greatly enjoyed music and often visited and sang to shut-ins.
Visitation will be held on Monday September 21, 2009 10:00am to 1:00pm at the Hartley Funeral Home McComb with Funeral Services beginning at 1:00pm. The Rev. Jim Williams will be officiating and internment will be at Pleasant Hill Cemetery.
