Belwood - Mary Dayberry Grigg, 84, formerly of Belwood-Lawndale Road passed away Sunday, September 20, at White Oak Manor in Shelby.

Born in Cleveland County on January 21, 1925, she was a daughter of the late Roy Henderson Dayberry and Chloe Ella Richard Dayberry.

Mrs. Grigg was a member of Knob Creek United Methodist Church and the Women's Society of Christian Service and a former member of the choir and former children's Sunday school teacher. She retired from PPG Industries.

In addition to her parents she was preceded in death by her husband, Ruffin Thomas Grigg; daughter, Diane Grigg Greenlaw; brothers, Bill Dayberry and Lee Dayberry and sister, Margaret Dayberry.

She is survived by a son-in-law, Craig Greenlaw of Hillsboro; five sisters-in-law, Barbara Dayberry of Lawndale, Joie Dayberry of Morganton, Madeline Parker of Shelby, Mary Grigg of Morganton, and Jess Grigg of Birmingham, Alabama and a number of nieces and nephews.

The funeral service will be Monday at 3:00 PM at Knob Creek United Methodist Church in Lawndale with Rev. Patricia Chaput officiating. Burial will follow in the church cemetery. The body will be placed in the church thirty minutes prior to the service.
