The News and Farmer, Louisville, Georgia, 23 Aug 1900:
DEATH OF JUDGE A.E. TARVER
Judge Andrew E. Tarver died at his home near Bartow August 17th, 1900. He was born Nov. 4th, 1817, and so was nearly 83 years old.
The deceased was perhaps the best known man in the county, having lived here all of his life, and being prominent before the people for many years. For many years he was Judge of the Inferior court. Twice he represented the county in the legislature. He served for very many years on the grand jury, and many times foreman of that body.
He was kind to the poor, and his many charitable deeds made for him many and lasting friends. We doubt if the county ever had a man who did more for his friends and neighbors. Nothing gave him more pleasure than to entertain his friends in his home. All found a worm welcome.
He was a member of the Baptist church. He leaves a wife, one son and one daughter to mourn his death.
The remains were interred in the family burial place.
The bereaved family has the sympathy of their many friends.
