C. Elizabeth "Betty" Eiche, 96, of The Lutheran Home at Hollidaysburg died Thursday. She was born in Altoona, daughter of John and Cora (Keys) Houser. She first married James Anchors in Altoona. He died in 1944. She later married Robert Eiche in State College. He died in 1975. Surviving are a stepdaughter, Robin Eiche of Hollidaysburg, and a stepson, Steven Eiche and wife, Sunny, of Phoenix, Ariz. She was preceded in death by a sister, Genevieve Burkhardt; and a brother, John Houser. Betty was a graduate of Altoona High School. She graduated from the University of Pittsburgh with a library degree and continued her education at the Carnegie Institute of Technology. She had been the head librarian in Farrell, Pa., and previously worked at the U.S. Steel library, the Mellon Bank library and the Penn State Altoona Robert E. Eiche Library. Betty was a member of the 58th Street United Methodist Church, Altoona Women's Club and American Association of University Women. At the request of the deceased, there will be no viewing or visitation. A funeral service will be held at the convenience of the family, followed by interment at Alto-Reste Park Cemetery.
