Mrs. Darby was born in Akron to Florian and Martha (Hass) Gebauer on Jan. 11, 1927.
She married Cleo John Darby on Nov. 3, 1945. They raised their children on the family farm west of Akron. She resided there until moving to Sterling in 2003. Mrs.
Darby worked at Hall Grain, the Akron hospital and nursing home. She loved being with her family and friends, especially granddaughter and great-granddaughter, Chrystal and Kimmie of Sterling; gardening; knitting; cooking and yard sales.
She is survived by daughters,Shirley Shaw, Mary Antener
and husband Lowell of Sterling; son, John Vernetti and wife Kathy of Las Vegas; grandchildren, Chrystal Jones of Sterling, Julie, Mike, Jim, and John Vernetti of Canon
City; sisters, Leona Heater and Cora Swopes; and several great-grandchildren.
She was preceded in death by her parents; husband, Cleo; sons, Leroy and Delmar; sister, Martha; brothers, Paul, Florian Jr., and Emory Zimmer.
Her family requests donations in lieu of flowers to St. Josephs Catholic Church or the Logan County Cooperating Ministry.
