Mary Nance Huggins, 88, of Chattanooga, died on Saturday, September 19, 2009.
She was the daughter of the late William Madison Nance and Bessie Rollins Nance.
Mary was a member of Wesley Memorial United Methodist Church, the Wesley Service Club, the United Methodist Women, the Gideon's Auxiliary, and of Delta Kappa Gamma. She taught at Cohutta Elementary School in Cohutta, Ga., and retired from East Brainerd Elementary School.
She was preceded in death by her husband, E.B. Huggins; brother, Madison Nance; and sister, Ruth Greeson.
Survivors include her daughter, Carroll (Carlton) Andrews, Summerville, Ga.; granddaughter, Sarah Andrews, Chattanooga; great-grandson, Isaac Hulsey, Chattanooga; sister-in-law, Iva (Vernon) Kaylor, Carrollton, Ga.; and other members of the Nance-Rollins family.
Funeral service will be held at 2 p.m. Monday at Wesley Memorial United Methodist Church with the Rev. Curtis McKee officiating.
Interment will follow in Smith Chapel Cemetery, Tunnel Hill, Ga.
In lieu of flowers, the family requests that contributions be made to Hospice of Chattanooga, Wesley Memorial United Methodist Church or Smith Chapel United Methodist Church.
The family will receive friends from 2-6 p.m. today at Heritage Funeral Home, 7454 East Brainerd Road, Chattanooga, TN 37421.
