Victoria Koch was born September 10, 1839 in Ratshausen, Germany to Franz Karl and Franzsika Dannecker Koch. She was one of 16 children. Several of her siblings came to the US and they were: Kasper Koch (1832-1876) of Hay Creek township; Engelbert Koch (1830-1914) of the Twin Cities area; Maria Koch Schmitz (1836-1876) of Hay Creek township; Anna Koch Haustein (1841-1927) of Red Wing; and Fidelis Koch (1846-1910) of Red Wing.

She married John Staiger on September 29, 1868 in Wells Creek township. They had 8 children, 2 of whom died in the Sea Wing disaster in 1890. The children were: Anna Staiger (1869-1890); Emily Margaret Staiger Croke (1870-1962) of Red Wing; Franzsika Staiger (1872-1890); Pauline Staiger Blunt (1873-1950) who was living in Charles City Iowa in 1914; Eugene Kasper Staiger (1874-1958) of Red Wing; Mary Antonia Staiger Ladner (1876-1973) of Chicago, Ill.; Rose Staiger Back (1879-1977) of Red Wing; and Mathilda "Tillie" Staiger Metzler (1883-unknown).

Victoria's death certicate states her cause of death was myocardial degeneration and immediate cause was heart failure (1914-MN-004819) and she died in Red Wing. Burial date on certificate was listed as May 8, 1914.
