Mr. Marvin Carey “Buddy” Morgan, 72 of Blackshear, passed away Saturday afternoon, July 18, 2020, at his residence.

Born in Waycross, GA on December 21, 1947, he grew up on a farm in Millwood and was raised in Ware County attending Ware County schools. He moved to Pierce County in the early 80’s and lived here until his passing. Mr. Morgan had worked as a wall builder for Well’s Cargo and was of the Baptist faith. He loved fishing and dogs and dearly loved his family especially his grandbabies and was a very generous man who would give you the shirt off of his back.

He was a son of the late Odis Kary & Thelma Stewart Morgan. He was also preceded in death by his first wife, Sarah Belle Royals Morgan; his brother, Ray Eugene “Gene” Morgan; and his step-son, Jody Lynn Cartwright.

Survivors include his wife, Barbara Brewer Morgan of Blackshear; two daughters, Sherry Rice (Tim Burnett) of Gainesville, FL and Tracy (Alvin) Roberson of Waycross; two grandchildren, Brittany Rice of Tampa, FL and Alysa Roberson of Waycross; four great grandchildren, Leo, Aria, Astrid, and Catherine; three step-sons, Clyde (Barbara) Witt of Dalonega, GA, Joe Witt of Mississippi, and William “Bill” Weeks of Florida and their children and grandchildren; and several nieces, nephews, and other relatives.

Funeral services for Mr. Morgan will be held Friday morning, July 24, 2020, at 11:00 o’clock from the Pearson-Dial Chapel.

Interment will be in the Greenlawn Cemetery.

The family will receive friends at the funeral home chapel one hour prior to the service on Friday.

Memorials may be made to Rick and Nancy Allman, 2988 Midway Church Road, Blackshear, GA 31516, to help with animal rescue.
