Clara "Bootsie" George, of the North community in Mathews, VA, died at the Walter Reed Convalescent Center, Gloucester, VA. Clara was educated in Mobjack, VA. In her late teens she left Mobjack to live in Baltimore, MD. "Bootsie" left Baltimore to join some family members in Bridgeport, Conn. In Bridgeport her mother introduced her to the love of her life, Booker George. "Bootsie" worked for the General Electric Co. in Bridgeport, Conn., for 33 years. They purchased a home in Stratford, Conn. Since they didn't have any children of their own they opened their hearts and home to several of their nephews and nieces. "Bootsie" was a member of Stratford Baptist Church, Stratford, Conn. She had a passion for knitting, crocheting and especially sewing. Her wardrobe consisted of many items she made herself. In the early 1990s Booker and "Bootsie" relocated to North, VA.
Funeral services were held at 1 p.m., Monday, Sept. 21, 2009, at the Zion Baptist Church, 3546 East River Road, Cardinal, VA. Interment in the Jones Family Cemetery, Mobjack, VA.
Funeral arrangements entrusted to the staff of the Forrest Brothers Funeral Home, 7437 Buckley Hall Rd, Hudgins, VA.
