Buddy Whitmire, 66, of Walnut Ridge passed away Thursday, Sept. 17, 2009, at Lawrence Memorial Hospital.
He was born Jan. 4, 1943, at Strawberry, the son of Boyd and Christeen Eagan Whitmire. He was a barber, retired businessman, veteran of the U.S. Navy and member of the Church of Christ.
He was united in marriage to Sue Pratt on March 26, 1962.
His father, Boyd Whitmire; brother, Joe Whitmire; and sisters, Nina Warnick and Ruby Freer preceded him in death.
Survivors include his wife, Sue Whitmire of the home; two sons, Mike Whitmire of Miami and Mitch Whitmire of Smithville; a daughter, Christy Phillips of Walnut Ridge; his mother, Christeen Whitmire of Walnut Ridge; nine grandchildren, Crystal Warden, Teague and Collin Phillips, Sarah, Hannah, Cody, Shelby, Katie and Rachel Whitmire; three brothers, Dizzy Whitmire of Walnut Ridge, Bob and Chuck Whitmire, both of Hoxie; two sisters, Wilma Veteto and Lavan Nicholas, both of Walnut Ridge; and many other relatives and friends.
Services will be at 2 p.m. Sunday in Bryan Funeral Home Chapel with Loyd Clark officiating. Interment will be in Ward Cemetery near Strawberry.
