W. Thomas Andrews, 67, of Neshannock Township died the morning of Sept. 14, 2009, in Jameson Memorial Hospital. Born Nov. 8, 1941, to Ralph and Mary Andrews, he was a lifelong resident of Mount Jackson prior to moving to Neshannock Township last year. He was the eldest of four children. A graduate of the inaugural class of Mohawk High School in 1959, he enjoyed basketball, softball and camping. Following high school, he attended the College of Wooster, where he received a degree in law. He became a practicing attorney following law school and in 1970, at the age of 27, was elected the youngest district attorney in Pennsylvania. He was elected in 1972 to the Pennsylvania Senate, where he served two terms prior to retiring from politics in 1980. Following his departure from the Senate, he returned to law and became a certified financial planner, continuing to practice until the time of his death.

He and his wife, the former Leslie Nord of Bessemer, were married on Aug. 13,1966.

In addition to his wife, he is survived by two children and their spouses, Arlyn Andrews and Tom Ryerson of Boulder, Colo., and Rob and Mary Andrews of Annapolis, Md.; two grandchildren, Lyra Ryerson and Ryan Andrews; a sister, Nancy Bestwick of Sharon; and two brothers, Bruce Andrews of Palmyra, Pa., and Kenn Andrews of Glenshaw, Pa.

A memorial service to celebrate Tom's life will be held at 4 p.m. Friday at Mount Jackson Presbyterian Church, preceded by a time for visitation with the family beginning at 3 p.m.In lieu of flowers, donations can be sent to the National Multiple Sclerosis Society or the Lawrence County Historical Society.Arrangements are by the Terry A.
