Born at Waltschland-Butzberg, District of Thunstetten, Canton Bern, Switzerland. Grandma Maria was married twice. Her first husband was Heinrich Fluckiger with whom she had Maria, Elise, Johann, Lina (my great great grandmother), and Jakob(died in Switzerland).
Heinrich died in Switzerland in 1873. Maria came to the United States in 1874 with her eldest child, also Maria. She then married Louis Schwader in Nebraska. Elise, Johann, and Lina were sent for in 1881. She had Charles and Bertha by her second husband, Louis.
Lina was her only child to have children. They were Clara (my great grandma), Adolph, Elizabeth, and Walter Petersdorf.
She, Mr. Schwader, and Bertha raised the 4 Petersdorf children after Lina was murdered and Hermann committed suicide. Very tragic time in our family history.
