Services for Harriett (Ginger) Powell, 70, of Christiana, who died Tuesday at her home, will be 1 p.m. Thursday at Short Creek Baptist Church with burial in Fox Cemetery. The Revs. Bobby Franklin, Willard Runnels and Kenneth Neill will officiate.
A native of Rogers, Ark., she was the daughter of the late Thurman and Maude Fisher Fox.
She is survived by husband David (Bud) Powell; daughters Teresa (Clark) Miller and Jenny (Phillip) Miller, both of Christiana, and Susan Davis, of Manchester; son David (Penny) Powell, of Miami, Fla.; sisters Ellen Salisbury, of Murfreesboro, Mary Ruth Watt, of Houston, Texas, and Bonnie Partridge, of Manchester; grandchildren Kristie Turner, Bryant Miller, J.B. Davis, Tonya Herman, Josh Davis, Rebekah Powell Reynolds, Rachel Miller, Alex Powell, Maddie Miller, Morgan Powell and Leah Miller; great-grandchildren Hannah and Hunter Turner, Katelyn and Jackson Davis, Gracie and Abby Miller.
Mrs. Powell was a member of the Short Creek Baptist Church and owner and operator of Art Embrodery Service. She was a member of the Optimist Garden Club, O.E.S., Master Gardners Club, Friendly Neighbor Club, Red Hat Society and was a Sunday school teacher.
She had just celebrated her 70th birthday surrounded by 150 family and friends at her home.
Pallbearers will be J.B. Davis, Josh Davis, Bryant Miller, Al Hollins, Eddie Peel, Leslie Herman, Benny Turner, Bill Spence, Charlie Morgan, Domonic Gillott.
Honorary pallbearers will be James Fox, Harold Messick, James Messick, Wally Moon, Charlie Thomas, Jerry Powell, Dick Salisbury and Jim Toombs.
Visitation with the family will be 4-8 p.m. today at Woodfin Memorial Chapel. www.woodfinchapel.com.
