Rinard S. Anthony died at his home in Union township, Jefferson county, on Thursday morning of last week, October 12th, 1899 aged 69 years. The cause of his death was a large carbuncle on his back which would not yield to treatment; but his health had been poor for several years. He had lived in Union township for thirty years, on the farm where he died, and was held in high esteen as a kind friend and good neighbor. He served from August 26th, 1863 to May of 1865, in the Union army. during the war of the rebellion eleven mouths in the 62d Penna, Vols., until that regiment was mustered out of service, whe he was transferred to the 91st Regt., where he served until the close of the war. He was twice wounded, having a finger shot off, and being shot through the thigh. He leaves a wife and six children- three sons and 3 daughters. Three sisters and two brothers also survive him. One of the brothers resides at New Bethlehem, Clarion Co., and the other in Eldred township, Jefferson Co. The sisters are Mrs. John S. Barr of Brookville, Mrs A. Gregg of Union township, and Mrs. Keller of Clarion. The funeral was on Friday, interment being at Zion cemetery in Eldred township, and was the largest ever seen in that section, testifing to the high esteem in which Mr. Anthony was held by his neighbors.
