Kathy Ann Casey, age 43, of Wayton, passed away Monday, Sept. 14 (2009) at Washington Regional Medical Center in Fayetteville. She was born May 12, 1966, at Harrison, the daughter of Frank and Betty (Houston) Barksdale.

She had worked for Windstream and was a lifetime resident of Newton County. She made a lot of pretty quilts, was an avid reader and enjoyed spending time communicating with friends on her computer, especially Facebook. Kathy and her family attended the Jasper First Assembly of God Church.

She was preceded in death by a brother, Terry Norman; one sister, Pam Mattlock; maternal grandparents, Harley and Jessie Houston; and paternal grandparents, Denver and Hattie Barksdale.

Survivors are her husband, Mark Casey of Wayton; parents, Frank Barksdale of Pruitt and Betty Barksdale of Wayton; one daughter, Sarah Ann Casey of Wayton; two sisters, Harlene Shaddox of Pruitt and Linda Goertz of Harrison and California; and many other relatives and friends.
Funeral services will be at 2 p.m. Friday, Sept. 18, at the Jasper First Assembly of God Church with Brother Troy Walker officiating. Burial will be at Wayton Cemetery under the direction of Coffman Funeral Home of Jasper. Visitation will be from 6 to 8 p.m. Thursday, Sept. 17, at Coffman Funeral Home in Jasper.

Pallbearers will be Virgil Isaac, Joe Taylor, Chris Taylor, Chester W. Casey, Roy Clayborn and Frank Breedlove. Honorary pallbearers include Roger Garner, Bill Braden, David Feber, Sterlin Henderson and Ronnie Casey.
