A native of Mayodan, Glenda was born Aug. 30, 1947, to Juanita Dunlap Carter and the late Robert "Bob" Glenn Carter Sr.
She was a textile worker and resided the last 14 years in Lawsonville with her husband, Eugene Sanford Shelton.
Glenda was also preceded in death by a brother, Douglas Eugene Carter.
In addition to her mother and husband, survivors include a son, Larry (Jackie) Bullins of Greensboro; three daughters, Tammy Chaney and husband Ricky of Madison, Donna Sparks and husband Garland of Mayodan and Jessica Bullins of the home; two stepsons, Chris Shelton and wife Valerie of Lawsonville and Michael Shelton and wife Beth of Va.; two brothers, Donnie Carter and wife Paula of Mayodan and Bobby Carter and wife Laquita of Sandy Ridge; 12 grandchildren, Niki, Mikie, Jesse, Willie, Todd, Sonny, Tiffany, Andrew, Matthew, Chris Jr., Chelsea and Amanda; and a special great-grandson, Dustin "Squeaky."
The funeral will be held at 2 p.m. Thursday, Sept. 11 at Colonial Funeral Home in Madison. Burial will follow in Mayodan Municipal Cemetery. The family will receive friends from 6 to 8 p.m. today, Sept. 10, at the funeral home, and all other times at the residence. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to the American Cancer Society, 1100 Wilkins St., Mayodan, NC 27027, Attn.: Carolyn VanHoy.
