Obituary from The Montana Standard 9/11/2009:

Shawn Casey Russell rode away to join the Lords remuda, leaving behind his family and friends in Wise River to remember his kind heart and cowboy ways. Casey died Tuesday, Sept. 1, 2009, in the University of Utah Health Care in Salt Lake City.

Casey was born April 10, 1972, to Ron and Sharlene Charlie Russell in Bozeman. He attended school in Alder and Wise River and graduated from Beaverhead County High School in Dillon in 1991.

His work included operating heavy machinery, driving a truck to haul cattle and being a range rider and all-around cowboy.

He was a member of the Knights of Columbus and National Rifle Association, and was an outstanding athlete in long-distance track, boxing and wrestling.

Casey married Dana Lee Russell on Aug. 14, 1995, in Coeur dAlene, Idaho. Together they had four children, Sue, Shanna, Ann and Clancy.

He was a cowboy with a kind heart, who was always willing to lend a hand to anyone in need. He enjoyed hunting, skiing, snow-machining, playing his guitar and entertaining. He especially enjoyed spending time with his children and his family, and riding in the mountains.

Casey is survived by his wife, Dana, and their four children; parents, Ron and Charlie Russell; sisters, Kate (Dave) Franich and Gayl (Ken) Gravly; nephew, Clay Todd; and many other relatives and friends.
