L.E. Hunter, a resident of Edgar for 77 years passed away at the Good Samaritan Home at Nelson on August 5 at the age of 97 years and 10 months.

Lewis E. Hunter was born at Smith Center, Kansas September 16, 1876. He was married to Amy Skinner on March 2, 1905. For a time they resided on a farm near Fairfield and a short time later moved to a farm East of Edgar.

To this union were born a son, Floyd; a son, Wayne. They adopted a daughter, Gladys at the age of 4. His wife, Amy and son, Floyd preceded him in death.

L.E. Hunter was proprietor of the Northside Service Station for many years. His son, Wayne of Edgar is now present owner of the service station. His daughter, Gladys, Mrs. John Kile and family reside in Imperial Beach, California where Rev. Kile is minister of the Mar Vista Baptist Church. There were 9 grandchildren and 4 great grandchildren and a daughter-in-law, Mrs. Floyd Hunter of California.

Services were held at the Christian Church of Edgar with Rev. John Kile, son in law of Mr. Hunter officiating on Saturday, August 9. Music was furnished by Mrs. Mary Greer and Mrs. Elzora Tolle accompanied by Eileen Mikkelsen at the organ. Pallbearers were: Floyd Brown, Frederick Hockman, Merlin Greer, Clarence Fitzke, Leo Nelson and Clark Powell. Lewis Hunter was laid to rest in the Edgar Cemetery.
