Perry Walters, an old and highly respected citizen of Nodaway vicinity, died Thursday morning, Dec. 24, at 9:30. The funeral was held Saturday morning at 11 o'clock at the M. E. Church at Nodaway and was conducted by Rev. E. S. McCartney. Interment was made in Nodaway cemetery. Perry Walters was born April 13, 1827, in Belmont County, Ohio, and was aged 78 years. 8 months and 11 days. He with his parents, removed to Illinois in 1841. He was married to Miss Mary Lush July 25 1876, in Bureau county, Illinois. Three children were born to them, being Loran Walters, Mrs. Hannah Brown, Mrs. Cora Gaskell all residing in this county. Mr. Walters removed to this state and settled at Villisca. In 1870 They removed near Nodaway on farm in 1884 where they residence until 1901 when they removed into Nodaway, which has since been the home. He was veteran of the Civil War having served in the 161st Illinois regiment. Mr. Walters was a highly gentleman and worthy of the many friends which to which he thoroughly enjoyed. He was a good man and will be ever remembered with kindest thoughts.
