Abbott D. Yopp, Jr. of Wilmington, NC, died Friday, April 16, 2004, at New Hanover Regional Medical Center.
He was born on March 16, 1937, in Wilmington, NC, son of the late Abbott D. Yopp and Flossie M. Glenn. He was preceded in death by his stepfather, Arthur E. Glenn; and his eldest son, Sammy A. Yopp.
Mr. Yopp was a veteran of the US Navy and a member of VFW, Manley Reese Post. He retired from International Paper Company in Riegelwood.
Surviving are his children, Sidney L. Yopp, Beverly Y. Tyler, and Jason E. Yopp, all of Wilmington; nine grandchildren; and six great-grandchildren.
A graveside service will be held 2:30 pm Monday, April 19, 2004, at Greenlawn Memorial Park by Rev. Don Cashwell.
The family will receive friends prior to the service from 1 2 pm Monday at Andrews Mortuary Market Street Chapel.
Following a lengthy illness the family would like to thank Thomas S. Bumbalo, III, MD, the nursing, respiratory care, and other staff of NHRMC as their care helped greatly extend our father life.
