Mr. Collins, who was aged a little more that 65 years, was born at Hayti and was educated principally in the schools there. Many years ago he entered the real estate business, but lated located on a farm he owned near Swift and for the past three or four years had devoted his time and attention to it exclusively. He was a member of the Methodist church and during his residence in this city was prominent in civic and church affairs.
He is survived by his wife, Mrs. Lou Collins, and one son and a daughter, Willard Collins of Cape Girardeau and Mrs. Dorothy Coppage of Braggadocio. An older son, Walton, Jr., died in this city some eight or ten years ago.
The body was brought to this city today by LaForge hearse and arrangements for funeral services have been made for tomorrow at 3 p.m., at the home of his daughter in Braggadocio. The Rev. Elmer Peal of this city, former pastor of the Methodist church, will conduct the services and interment at Little Prairie cemetery will be under auspices of the local Masonic order, of which he was a member during many years of his life.
The deceased was a patient sufferer and he won the esteem and admiration of the staff of hospital workers and attendants with his unfailing good humor and cheerfulness, which they wondered at all the more by reason of the fact that he suffered much, undergoing two operations during his stay there. He was highly esteemed here as a good citizen, honest, honorable and upright in all dealings and a good friend to every one. His death brings universal regret to the community and to all who knew him.
