SHERMAN A. HUNT DIES TUESDAY IN PEORIA
Sherman A. Hunt, 73, Peoria, father of Mrs. Ben Slane of Princeville and for 40 years a constable and deputy sheriff died at 12:06 o'clock Tuesday morning at Proctor hospital. Peoria, from complications resulting from a fracturing his right hip on September 20 in a fall when alighting from the rumble seat of an automobile.
The accident happened at the Slane hone south of Princeville. His grandson Robert Blumenshine had driven Mr. and Mrs. Slane to Princeville and because it was a nice day, Mr. Hunt chose to ride in the rumble seat. He was active and without waiting for assistance when the car reached its destination he started to climb out. He slipped and fell from one fender to the ground.
Mr. Hunt was well known in Princeville, having served as a deputy sheriff of Peoria county under Sheriffs John Kimsey, Del Potter, Louise M. Hines and Lucas Butts and also served four-year terms as constable. He retired two years ago and for the past 17monhts had been residing at the Proctor Endowment Home in Peoria.
Mr. Hunt was born July 21, 1865, in Trivoli township southeast of Cramer. He was a son of Elijah and Adeline Muria Hunt. On June 30, 1885 he married Miss Fredericka Becker in Peoria.
Besides Mrs. Hunt, four daughters, Mrs. Slane of Princeville, Mrs. Frank Blumenshine and Mrs. Ira W. Wolfner of Peoria, and Mrs. Maurice Bone of Philadelphia, Pa., survive. He also leaves a sister, Mrs. A. Miskimen, and a brother, Harry hunt, both of Peoria.
Funeral services were held this Thursday afternoon at 2 o'clock at the Gauss mortuary in Peoria, in charge of Rev. E. L. Fernandes of Arcadia Avenue Presbyterian church of Peoria. Pallbearers were four grandsons, Byron, Harold and Edgar Slane all of Princeville, and Robert Blumenshine of Peoria, and two nephews, Robert Hunt and Howard Miskimen, both of Peoria. Burial was in Brunswick cemetery in Trivoli township near where he was born.
