The service will be 1 p.m. Friday at the Workinger-Semmel Funer al Home Inc., 849 E. Market St., York. Burial will be in Mount Rose Cemetery. Viewing will be noon to 1 p.m. Friday at the fu neral home.
Mrs. Bates was born Aug. 16, 1911, in York. She was the daughter of the late John J. and Lilly E. (Musser) Strine.
Mrs. Bates is survived by two sons, Donald R. Bates of Manchester and Richard E. Bates of York; three grandchildren; three great-grandchildren; and a sister, Gertrude Staub of York. Mrs. Bates was preceded in death by a son, Kenneth J. Bates.
Officiating at the service will be the Rev. Floyd Smith of Hedgesville Baptist Church in Hedgesville, W.Va.
